Josue Febles releases a driving and gritty new CD “Gasoline Rainbows” with its slippery sheen of multi-colored musical ideas.
From complex rock to soft, abstract and hypnotic songs, he creates a shimmering and oily path with 12 songs that transform themselves,
one moment rough, soothing the next. Sometimes lush and circular, the songs are like waves that carry and then pound.
Febles’ voice and non-musical sounds are composed into the music, meandering through his masterful guitar with its sexy hints of Spain.
The CD is a curve of overlapping musical shades and feelings contrasting against each other, with Febles’ sense of humor peeking through at the end of his rainbow. Quiet, thoughtful, and introspective, then upbeat and fun,
“Gasoline Rainbows” comforts like a hug, then slaps you like a whiff of petroleum on a peaceful day.
